Christmas Tree Decoration In The White House

Christmas is always celebrated in a grandeur way at the White House in United States of America . The Christmas tree, its decoration, rooms decoration are the major attractions during Christmas every year at the White House. The Christmas tree in particular has been decorated in a magnificent way for decades together and this tradition has been followed sincerely by all the Presidents of United States of America. The Christmas tree is always the centerpiece, in the Blue Room, traditionally. The ornaments on the tree are all clear crystal ornaments. In one of the recent years, it was spectacularly designed with real lilies on it.

The Cross Hall of the White House is beautifully decorated in Christmas colors. The East Room of the White House is filled with a colorful display of Christmas trees. The fireplace in the library at the White House is adorned with Christmas greenery. A Christmas wreath is placed generally outside of the East Wing of the White House and the State Dining Room is beautifully decorated for the Holiday Season. Clusters of snow covered and icicle-laden trees in the East Room accentuate the room's grandeur. The White House staff made the decorative dolls and their clothing for last year's celebration.

Keeping with the theme, many ornaments on the tree are replicas of historic homes and places of worship from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. More than 180 artists contributed to the decorative effort last year. A mainstay of White House Christmas decorations is the 18th century crèche that was donated to the White House by Mrs. Charles, New Jersey in 1967. Every year, the White House occupants have had different themes & vignettes. One year it had 'All Creatures Great and Small,'. It featured all the different pets that had lived in the White House. Another year, with the theme 'All Things Bright and Beautiful,' they used natural, real flowers and fruits and garlands. This was to show that how beautiful nature is, and how many things we can use from our own gardens or woods during Christmas decorations.

White House Christmas Ornament Collections are hand-decorated holiday ornaments which make great Christmas displays for home or gifts for family and friends, and for army men. Elegant ornaments feature the White House, Capitol Hill, Supreme Court, Mount Vernon, and other designs with significance to American History and Washington, DC . New ornaments are designed and added to the collections each year. Popular White House ornaments include the "Support Our Troops", "Statue of Freedom", and the "United in Memory September 11th" ornaments, which are beautiful keepsakes to remind us of the strength of our nation. One can order ornaments from previous years and create a historical collection.

What once was a single Christmas tree, now includes a main tree with fifty six smaller trees with one tree representing each state, territory, and the District of Columbia. More than 75,000 lights illuminate last year's display. To signify the beginning of the new Millennium, the National Christmas Tree was decorated with multi-colored lights until midnight of New Years Eve, at which time it changed to an all-white illumination, with accents of red garlands and blue in the star.
